I was tired of my insurance payments going up and up and up, so thought it was time to start shopping for new insurance. I had tried over the Internet before but hadn't a clue what I was doing, so I just gave up. I had my previous insurance elsewhere and came to find out I was paying way, way too much. I am saving $750. 00 a year by switching to Esurance! I could not believe it! I immediately started the process of switching, and I am now a new Esurance customer and a very happy one! Today, I received my policy and cards via email just as promised and am glad I switched!
I shopped around for the best price for the coverage I wanted and Progressive undercut the others by around $1200. Every 6 months my monthly premium goes down. After the first six months we added another car, and the premium only went up by $6 because the policy dropped by such a significant amount. They've been good at getting my documents to me quickly, and having 24 hour customer service - which I'm coming to appreciate more and more with the odd hours I'm awake and work.

USAA’s adjustor knew he messed up big time. He told me that & I said no I don’t agree & I’m not accepting that, so, I guess you need to finish this conversation with my lawyer. He promptly snarkily replied we can’t talk if you have a lawyer… I said I guess we can’t talk then here’s his number & hung up. I think he had enough time to Google my lawyer & he called me back to back 3x. The 3rd one I said you said we can’t talk so we’re not talking. You are finishing it with my lawyer… click. I’m done messing around @ this point. I hurt. I can’t get to my follow-up doctors appointments & they’re trying to screw me out of fair market value for my truck. Just no way.
Had this company for years including coverage for my 21 Year son...not an easy feat to get reasonable prices, complete consideration by all employees and real people who meet all our needs when it really counts. Example..my son was in a total loss accident when hit (hit and run) on a busy freeway. He had minor physical injuries but Wawanesa came through providing everything we needed! We love Wawanesa.

Farm Bureau has paid every claim we have had fairly and quickly. I hydroplaned after a tire blew out and my Honda flew over an deep embankment and landed upright but the damage was significant. Again, I was easing out of a parking place at a restaurant when a large pickup blew through the lot and couldn't stop. My car was a total loss and Farm Bureau gave me what seemed to be more than they needed to based on my research of my car's worth. A third time, I bumped someone at a right turn stop sign and they took care of the dent on the other car, no questions asked. If I were them, I would refer me to another company, but they continue to offer great service at an very fair price and have just insured our new condo at an excellent rate..

It has been over a month since my accident. I had a woman back into my parked car with her car. We called the police, but since it was in a Dollar General parking lot it was considered private property. I got all the driver's info and took pictures. I filed my claim that night and they sent an insurance adjuster out who took pictures and even they said they saw the damage. Now it's been over a month and just yesterday they had some twerp call me to say that there wasn't enough evidence. What he meant was unless you want to go thru the trouble suing us we aren't paying for anything. I've never dealt with such freaking crooks/scam artists. I hope they all rot in hell.

I have had a pretty positive experience with this company until I went to renew my 3 car tags just to find out that the registration lady have been cancelled due to non verification of insurance. I call numerous times only to get an incompetent person to send me the Letter of Experience instead of The State of Alabama Tag office. In total I called 12 times and I received 12 letters that weren’t even supposed to be sent to me. Since I couldn’t get my insurance company to verify, even though I had all the proof, I received a fine of $200 per car plus the cost of my tags.
The General also has some red flags when it comes to its financial solvency. While A.M. Best awards an “Excellent” financial strength rating to The General's parent company, American Family Insurance, The General itself isn't rated by agencies like like S&P Global and Moody’s. In fact, it has no ratings of its own — from any agency. The Insurance Information Institute recommends choosing providers with multiple financial strength evaluations, so this complete lack of evaluation gave us pause. While The General may still have the ability to pay out on claims, it isn’t backed with the same confidence as companies with many financial strength ratings.

I was in an automobile accident on 12/27/17. Hit in a parking lot by a girl doing about 50, insured by Permanent General. The accident was 100% her fault as admitted by everybody involved. I submitted a claim to her insurance company and was given an adjusted named {Redacted]. Permanent General then proceeded to have my car towed to a salvage yard one hour and 20 minutes away from where it was. This company [Redacted] lost my only set of car keys. This lost keys delayed my auto body shop from estimating my vehicle. A new set of keys had to be created and a locksmith had to re-key my car. The General had the nerve to blame this delay on the auto body shop and ordered me to return my rental car before any repairs were even authorized to be completed. I left 3 voicemail messages for [Redacted]’s supervisor [Redacted] in regards to needing a rental vehicle until my vehicle was repaired. She did not return one of my phone calls. I did not get to speak to her until I called the claims line and refused to be put into voicemail and held for 25 minutes. Her response was to bad for me. Again they went back and forth on repairs until Friday 1/26, 30 days after my accident, when [Redacted] stated that they would not be paying any repairs and I would have to subjugate through my insurance company. Do not use this company for your insurance. Go through Statefarm, Geico, one of the real insurance companies. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, horrible customer service and these people just do not care. If you get jerked around from this company as I have, submit a complaint through the BBB and through Division of Finance. Maybe with enough complaints, we can put this company out of business. I have now filed a claim with my insurance company.

The General advertises low rates for coverage, and many customers have confirmed that they were offered lower premiums at the outset of their policy. But after the fact, The General has been known to tack on hidden fees for things as simple as monthly billing, resulting in a rate that can be significantly higher than the initial rate you were given.
I have been a GEICO customer for about least 15 years. Claims and customer service are not the issue with them. After said years of faithfully paying my insurance on time and renewing each year I accidently back into a car in my driveway. The cars were repaired without incident. However, GEICO penalized me by taking away my good driver discount and increase my monthly insurance rate by nearly $100.00 ; leving a hefty penalty for making a claim. I can’t imagine the money they made off of me during the 15 years I’ve faithfully paid auto insurance. I am hunting for a new auto insurance carrier since GEICO obviously thinks driving is perfect and accidents never happen.
I have had Progressive for years and have never had any trouble. My car got plowed into by a deer, and Progressive was reasonable to deal with. Their rates are also about the best I can find. We bundle in our home insurance (through some licensed third party) and save even more! Our rates just actually went down this past 6-month period which was a pleasant surprise.
I compared other online and "brick" insurance companies against Travelers and they were the best compared with the coverages we previously had. I even called AARP-The Hartford and told them I found better priced coverage and could they do better. They told me no so we switched. I even get my Jeep covered. Our combined home and (2) cars for 2013-2014 was $1419 for the YEAR. We had a glass claim and it was handled quickly and efficiently. Try Them.

When I talked to the employees at 21st Century Insurance, they don't talk at me, they talk to me just like they would any other person. They look past the bottom line dollar signs and see me as an individual; a lot of insurance companies today can't seem to deliver that. I think it's obnoxious when a company becomes so big that they don't treat the customers as people anymore or when companies become so large that the employees become impersonal and arrogant. So far, I've not encountered this with 21st Century Insurance and that, my friends, leaves me a satisfied customer!
I don't believe everything you hear or reviews either. This world is lied of the wicked one. I want to get insurance for my vehicle. I couldn't afford the one I got. I try State Farm to Progressive. They couldn't offer collisions or comprehensive. Some joke. Newer vehicles has to have full coverages. I was out of hope trying to find insurance. Until I saw General. This insurance will help people get back on the road and reasonable price. In order to have business don't lied to your client is simple as that. You want to help people then that is your goal.
I have insurance with this company and they have served me well. When I call or need help the Johnny Blackwell agency in Albertville, Al. is there for me and I always talk to him or his customer service representive. This means a lot to me and being ole school I appreciate this company. I don't mind paying when I can depend on my agent. Thanks Johnny Blackwell for being there for me and my family.

AARP (The Hartford group) save me over $600.00 a year on my home and Auto insurance. I was with Liberty Mutual for around 15 years and never had any claims. But they would not lower my premiums. The old proverbial straw was, this year they raised the rates on us again. So see ya later for sure. They do not appreciate their loyal good customers. Don't buy from them unless you like to give money away.
My car was blown up by someone who has not been arrested yet. It has been 2 months and the general has not finished the claim still! I have asked them many times to give me another adjustment or to have another person look at it because I purchased a car a year ago for 31k and they are estimating the value at 18k which is way too low. They won’t prove that they have my actual model number which is the souped-up version with 6 grand in added equipment compared to the basic version of my model. (2016 optima EX) They refuse to do another adjustment, they refuse to fix my bill as they said they would by my due date which was the (17th of July) and now it has not been done and I am over a week late because they will not adjust it to the amount it should be without my car on it. They refuse to pay me for my car seat involved because it doesn’t (look damaged in the photo I sent) they are acting like they don’t know it’s illegal to ever be used in a car again. My wife’s car was never to be removed and they did it without my permission and they would not add it without increasing my bill. They then gave me an SR22 proving its back on but my policy states it’s still not on there. Also, I emailed them on the 16th of July demanding to close my policy because of this incident and they told me they are not letting me go until I prove I have other coverage. Is this something you can help with? It is beyond frustrating. I have also sent MANY MANY emails to my adjuster with ZERO help and ZERO replies. She’s ignoring everything I’ve said above and now refuses to give me her supervisors name or number or email. Also, she was supposed to contact my finance company to settle an amount on the car and it’s been over 2 weeks with her refusing to do so, now dinging my credit and my co-signers. I’m flabbergasted by this awful behavior and I need help pursuing legal action against them.
Hi Eric – What you’ve seen is not an unusual situation. A company that’s good in one state isn’t in another. Liberty Mutual worked for you in California, but not in Florida. This is why it’s not possible to say one company is the best. That will vary by state and by your own personal profile. That’s why we produce these “10 Best” lists, to give you companies to investigate.

Worst customer service ever this afternoon from The General customer service team. The General made it obvious that our business was not important to their company. I'm appalled at the upcharge they were going to put on our account so that my wife could talk to a representative about the account! However- The General didn't have a problem taking the money out of her account when the bill was due! Ridiculous! Glad we canceled with these idiots, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!
The General Insurance Co. advertises their customer service is rated highly…. WRONG – one of their insured vehicle was driven by a drunk driver… left the road way, crossed over on coming traffic, crashed into my parked car, taken to jail by sheriff’s, police report taken. They did nothing to track down their insured to get a report. They would do nothing without a statement from their insured…I personally had to go find their insured which was not hard… I drove to their home. I took with me a document and ask the insured to sign which stated she knew the insured vehicle was driven by her friend, and that she felt her insurance co should honor her policy. Then needless to say had to fight them tooth and nail to get them to pay the claim to replace my car as it was totaled.
The General Auto Insurance Company writes auto insurance exclusively. Its auto insurance policy is known for accepting high risk drivers and may offer them more affordable rates than they would receive with a standard or preferred auto insurance carrier. Do not, I repeat, do not get insurance from this company!! I got into a minor accident in stop and go traffic, going no more than 5 miles an hour, and their claims adjuster came out to the body shop and stated that my car was a total loss! Mind you, the damage to both vehicles was barely noticeable. I wanted to keep my car and fix it myself but now my back refuses to continue my contract because it will now show up as a salvaged vehicle. I even got an estimate from two other reputable body shops (one was caliber collision) for 1/3 of the cost, and they refused to allow me an appeal process. So now I'm out of a car that I still owe on, and have to come up with a down payment as pay back the balance of what I still owed. These people are straight mafia!!! And this is some kind of scam!!! Beware!
My agent really took the time to explain or I should say educate me on my policy how to read what each part meant and scenerios of how I was covered if something happened. I ended up paying a little more in premium but the protection I have for myself and my family makes me feel like I'm a celeb. My agent values protecting my family, I also like the fact he calls my house just to see how we are doing. If you live in the Kansas City area, Farmers agent Troy Bower would be a real blessing to your home.
