Switching to Amica from State Farm because I reviewed my State Farm policy and found that they are no longer paying to return my vehicle to "pre-loss" condition, and instead they are only paying for what is competative in the market area. I have been with State Farm for over 12 years, and recently read my policy booklet, and found this out. Based on the way State Farm's auto policies read I am very unhappy. State Farm gets to dictate what is competative in the market area, and because the majority of the shops in my area are not good shops, State Farm will not pay to have my vehicle repaired properly because it isn't competative in the market area as my policy reads. This also means that if I hit someone and they take their vehicle to a quality shop and State Farm does not pay for the cost to repair the other party's vehicle properly, then I can be sued by the person I hit. I expect more from my insurance, and I hope others do to. After contacting Amica I have found their ...more
I was in an automobile accident on 12/27/17. Hit in a parking lot by a girl doing about 50, insured by Permanent General. The accident was 100% her fault as admitted by everybody involved. I submitted a claim to her insurance company and was given an adjusted named {Redacted]. Permanent General then proceeded to have my car towed to a salvage yard one hour and 20 minutes away from where it was. This company [Redacted] lost my only set of car keys. This lost keys delayed my auto body shop from estimating my vehicle. A new set of keys had to be created and a locksmith had to re-key my car. The General had the nerve to blame this delay on the auto body shop and ordered me to return my rental car before any repairs were even authorized to be completed. I left 3 voicemail messages for [Redacted]’s supervisor [Redacted] in regards to needing a rental vehicle until my vehicle was repaired. She did not return one of my phone calls. I did not get to speak to her until I called the claims line and refused to be put into voicemail and held for 25 minutes. Her response was to bad for me. Again they went back and forth on repairs until Friday 1/26, 30 days after my accident, when [Redacted] stated that they would not be paying any repairs and I would have to subjugate through my insurance company. Do not use this company for your insurance. Go through Statefarm, Geico, one of the real insurance companies. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, horrible customer service and these people just do not care. If you get jerked around from this company as I have, submit a complaint through the BBB and through Division of Finance. Maybe with enough complaints, we can put this company out of business. I have now filed a claim with my insurance company.
If your vehicle is damaged in a car crash, auto insurance can help pay for your repairs. The General insurance partners with auto repair shops all over the nation to help you get your car back on the road as fast as possible. Your policy may even cover a rental car until your repairs are done. In most cases, all you have to pay is a small deductible. And if your car is damaged beyond repair, car insurance from The General may help you buy a new vehicle.
I have had car insurance for a year with The General. I was involved in an accident where another vehicle ran me off the road. The police could not determine what exactly happened but I was not charged with anything. The General would not file my claim as uninsured motorist, which I can kind of understand but they are now refusing to pay my medical bills as well. Is this even legal? Don't they have to cover my medical expenses?
This supplemental option provides protection for any custom parts you may have installed in your vehicle, like grilles, stereo systems, paint jobs, or spoilers. If you elect to purchase this coverage, The General will pay for the cost of replacing these parts after an accident (which aren’t usually included under a standard insurance policy). That said, The General does have a limit on custom equipment coverage: In California, the limit is $1,500, and in every other state, it’s $5,000.
Watch out for GEICO especially when changing coverages. I have learned the hard way that you can’t trust them to get your changes correct. I was just hit in the rear while stopped at a stop sign. I am trying to go through the collision coverage I am supposed to have only to have GEICO tell me that I removed this coverage a few months ago. The fact of the matter is I did not remove this coverage and never would have done that or agreed to that. Trying to reason with them has been an exercise in futility so far with a supervisor trying to put the onus on me for the problem. I am currently awaiting their final position on their review of this matter, but whatever the outcome I now know I cannot relie on them to get things right and I will always have to check on them. The mistakes they make hurt you, not them.
6 weeks ago my vehicle was hit by a person being insured by The General Insurance company. To this day 6 weeks later I'm still waiting to hear from someone from the claims department to get back with me on my insurance check. The entire process has been extremely slow and drawn out. Very very disappointed in the amount of time that it takes to process a total loss claim. Several times I was told, "We will get back with you," in a certain amount of time and never hear from them. If I would have had to rent a car due to the loss of my vehicle I would have went broke by now! Definitely would not recommend them to anyone. I have the same exact type of accident happened 3 months ago and the insurer was insured by another company in which was taken care of from start to finish in 9 days. Big difference! For most people...I would say you are messing around with our livelihood!
Saved me $370.00 on a three car policy and have nad no problems with the two claims I had within the last three years. Easy to work with on the phone or on line, you can choose your own repair shop and they will back you if the repairs are not correct. Had State Farm before and they did not have a firm handle on my account. I was recieving notification of changes constantly, $11.00 here and $14.00 there. When I would call to inquire, If I could get through they were never sure or justify why the small changes. They took all my pocket change, will not go back, I found a new home after years at SF.

I LOVE nationwide! I previously had State farm under my parents, and switched onto my own when quoted. I received a call the next week telling me it would be 90 more a month! I called EVERYWHERE and the cheapest I could find was 4000/6 months, until I called nationwide. (I am only 18 with a new car and high coverage. ) My new agent is VERY nice and informative and I am only paying 1200/6months. One week after switching, someone totaled my car, and Nationwide was right there, helping me through everything. I would NEVER switch! Go Nationwide!

Many people will recognize The General Automobile Insurance Services, Inc. simply by “The General” as it has come to be known and also from its popular series of television commercials. A popular television commercial slogan of the company is “For a great low rate you can get online, go to The General and save some time!” Three Telly Awards were presented to The General in 2012 in the animation category. In May of 2016, Shaquille O'Neal became the first athletic spokesperson for The General. Shaquille O'neal was a customer of The General while attending and playing basketball for LSU In Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I had state farm before, I bought a new car and sold the old, state farm was charging me 120$ a month for full coverage and that doesn't include broken windshield. I didn't think of getting a new insurance company had it not been for my state farm agent who kept on ignoring me. I kept on calling him but someone else is answering the phone, he takes my message and tells me my agent would call me back. He never did. I happen to drive by a geico office and decided to inquire. For the same full coverage I had with state farm plus the windshield insurance, they're charging me 90$/mo. That's 360$ savings a year! Plus they gave me some freebies like pens, tumbler and stuff like that. Went to AAA and they said they wont insure me cause my US license is less than 18 months old. They wouldn't Honor my professional drivers license from another country even if I'm 30 yo. Geico on the other hand gave me more discount because of that license and another discount for being a Registered nurse.
The General Auto Insurance Company writes auto insurance exclusively. Its auto insurance policy is known for accepting high risk drivers and may offer them more affordable rates than they would receive with a standard or preferred auto insurance carrier. The auto policy offers bodily injury liability, property damage liability, comprehensive, collision, medical payments and uninsured motorist coverage (coverage options for uninsured motorist depends on state of residence.) SR-22 insurance is available for drivers who have to file a financial responsibility filing with their state of residence showing proof of insurance coverage.
I have requested the SR22 filing online and in person for 3 months. They could not understand what happened and I can’t understand why I had to pay extra money to the live agent for the SR22 filing, they have half of my California DL# and the other half is half of my AZ DL #. I now lost my position in a school for truck driver training, lost my license-suspended for not having the filing, and right back where I started before we got The General in the first place. I’m calling and contacting the local news and every organization that will bring out the truth about them.. Its included in the new lawsuit!

Medical payments are known as goodwill, no fault type of coverage that will protect you and your passengers in the vehicle. There is no deductible to pay before it kicks in, and it pays out on a per person basis. Regardless of how reliable you think your health insurance policy is, medical payments can help out on several different levels after an accident.
