On Dec.3, 2018 my husband was involved in a hit an run accident (driver never caught) and we are insured by The General so I had to file a claim. It is now 2 weeks and I am getting the runaround. First I was told that my husband was excluded as a driver on the policy (which he was not), my son with the same name was excluded. Then I was told that an APPRAISAL would be done and as of today no one has looked at my car. I have made numerous phone calls and emails to my adjuster and she is not returning calls or emails. I am having to pay out of pocket for a rental and have had to pay for a tow truck, all at my own expense right before Christmas. Beware! This company is a nightmare to deal with. I do not recommend them at all. I am at the point of hiring an attorney just for my own damn insurance company to pay my claim.

And my insurance went down by over 1/3 of the cost. I love metlife! My brother was driving my car and wrecked it. They were so responsive and proactive. They encouraged him to see a doctor right away, paid all the medical bills promptly, and paid a decent price for my totaled car. They routinely checked up on my brother to make sure he was getting all of the attention he needed. I couldn't believe these guys! THEN my brother hit a building with my truck and did some damage to the building. They again dealt with it promptly and settled with the property owner. They were so available and easy to talk with. They were so nice to me and after these two incidents, they did not raise my rates or anything. Truly, I will never use any other company! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them.
I was in an automobile accident on 12/27/17. Hit in a parking lot by a girl doing about 50, insured by Permanent General. The accident was 100% her fault as admitted by everybody involved. I submitted a claim to her insurance company and was given an adjusted named {Redacted]. Permanent General then proceeded to have my car towed to a salvage yard one hour and 20 minutes away from where it was. This company [Redacted] lost my only set of car keys. This lost keys delayed my auto body shop from estimating my vehicle. A new set of keys had to be created and a locksmith had to re-key my car. The General had the nerve to blame this delay on the auto body shop and ordered me to return my rental car before any repairs were even authorized to be completed. I left 3 voicemail messages for [Redacted]’s supervisor [Redacted] in regards to needing a rental vehicle until my vehicle was repaired. She did not return one of my phone calls. I did not get to speak to her until I called the claims line and refused to be put into voicemail and held for 25 minutes. Her response was to bad for me. Again they went back and forth on repairs until Friday 1/26, 30 days after my accident, when [Redacted] stated that they would not be paying any repairs and I would have to subjugate through my insurance company. Do not use this company for your insurance. Go through Statefarm, Geico, one of the real insurance companies. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, horrible customer service and these people just do not care. If you get jerked around from this company as I have, submit a complaint through the BBB and through Division of Finance. Maybe with enough complaints, we can put this company out of business. I have now filed a claim with my insurance company.
6 weeks ago my vehicle was hit by a person being insured by The General Insurance company. To this day 6 weeks later I'm still waiting to hear from someone from the claims department to get back with me on my insurance check. The entire process has been extremely slow and drawn out. Very very disappointed in the amount of time that it takes to process a total loss claim. Several times I was told, "We will get back with you," in a certain amount of time and never hear from them. If I would have had to rent a car due to the loss of my vehicle I would have went broke by now! Definitely would not recommend them to anyone. I have the same exact type of accident happened 3 months ago and the insurer was insured by another company in which was taken care of from start to finish in 9 days. Big difference! For most people...I would say you are messing around with our livelihood!

Now flash forward present day. Last month I had a wreck. It was not my fault. I called USAA to get my rental covered because the cop wouldn’t give me the @ fault driver’s info said I had to wait for the police report. USAA informs me that I don’t have rental. Excuse me 3 months ago when I added collision I told you add rental & you said you would. USAA claims I did not tell them that, but I know I did because Roadside made it but not rental? Now mind you my Escalade is totalled. The frame is warped among many other things. I’m not @ fault & USAA (my own insurance company) tries to screw me? (The @ fault driver’s insurance company is someone I’ve never heard of but it’s not USAA) The adjustor says not totalled we’ll settle for 10Gs…. no I’m not settling for 10Gs on 50G+ truck especially with a warped frame NO WAY!! I’ve lost major retail value & nobody will buy it with the carfax that’s attached to it now.

Stay away from The General! They are denying paying for my claim, even though I have video proof of there insured running into me! Told me there insured should of of paid attention and not ran into me!!! This company is a joke and are just taking people premiums and not paying out on claims! Looks like this is common practice for these guys! Now off to court! Shaq really let me down on this one!
