They wouldn't Honor my professional drivers license from another country even if I'm 30 yo. Geico on the other hand gave me more discount because of that license and another discount for being a Registered nurse.
I was hit by one they insured. It was his fault. The GENERAL ran me around on my vehicle. Heavy damage to right front end. They wanted to total it but I was smarter than that. I check the book value on my vehicle. It was able to fix not totaled. They didnt want to pay 4 grand repairs. They wanted to total it cause it was cheaper for them. They didnt want to pay for my rental car. I was out of a car cause of their insure hit me and was at fault. I had to go through 2 guys get their story straight. They try to lie about it. They are ALWAYS there! When I lost control of my new pick up (11 months old) on slick streets, and totaled it in 2007, I was all alone. No one for miles in any direction. I called USAA to let them know what had happened. I was scared and alone, and the representative stayed on the phone with me until someone got to me. I was physically unhurt, but scared. She eased my fear and talked me through everything I needed to do. Gave me sound advice as to where to take the truck. Everything was handled smoothly and quickly. Settlement was swift. I was in a rental car in a matter of a few hours and in new car in a matter of days. We have been with USAA since 1976. We have had three burglary claims with them over the years and every one handled well and payment was swift. They are an honorable company who put their customers FIRST. They are fast, efficient and thorough. I highly recommend USAA to anyone who wants to be treated well!
AARP (The Hartford group) save me over $600.00 a year on my home and Auto insurance. I was with Liberty Mutual for around 15 years and never had any claims. But they would not lower my premiums. The old proverbial straw was, this year they raised the rates on us again. So see ya later for sure. They do not appreciate their loyal good customers. Don't buy from them unless you like to give money away.

I even called AARP-The Hartford and told them I found better priced coverage and could they do better. They told me no so we switched. I even get my Jeep covered. I was in an automobile accident on 12/27/17. Hit in a parking lot by a girl doing about 50, insured by Permanent General. The accident was 100% her fault as admitted by everybody involved. I submitted a claim to her insurance company and was given an adjusted named {Redacted]. Permanent General then proceeded to have my car towed to a salvage yard one hour and 20 minutes away from where it was. This company [Redacted] lost my only set of car keys. This lost keys delayed my auto body shop from estimating my vehicle. A new set of keys had to be created and a locksmith had to re-key my car. The General had the nerve to blame this delay on the auto body shop and ordered me to return my rental car before any repairs were even authorized to be completed. I left 3 voicemail messages for [Redacted]’s supervisor [Redacted] in regards to needing a rental vehicle until my vehicle was repaired. She did not return one of my phone calls. I did not get to speak to her until I called the claims line and refused to be put into voicemail and held for 25 minutes. Her response was to bad for me. Again they went back and forth on repairs until Friday 1/26, 30 days after my accident, when [Redacted] stated that they would not be paying any repairs and I would have to subjugate through my insurance company. Do not use this company for your insurance. Go through Statefarm, Geico, one of the real insurance companies. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, horrible customer service and these people just do not care. If you get jerked around from this company as I have, submit a complaint through the BBB and through Division of Finance. Maybe with enough complaints, we can put this company out of business. I have now filed a claim with my insurance company.
This company is full of incompetent people. We called them to ask what we need to do to have our insurance renewed, their “worker” said that we don’t need to do anything that because we have automatical payment set up, everything will be done automatically. After two weeks we get notification from MVA to confirm our insurance and to find out that they insurance was not renewed even thought they said they will. When we called them again to ask for explanation all they said that they are sorry that they can not do anything for us. Long story short
Got home and auto several years ago. Lost house and vehicles due to a fire. They were awesome to deal with once the cause of the fire had been determined. Two million dollar claim was handled very professionally and with compassion. I went with Metlife because of the price. They were the cheapest when I had teen age drivers in the family. I will stay with them because of the way they treated me after the fire. You never know how good your insurance company is until you have a major claim.
I am not a high-risk driver but I live in Colorado and Colorado has some of the highest insurance rates in the nation. I’m a middle-aged woman and had precious insurance with Progressive and State Farm. The General premiums were half the cost of these 2 insurance companies. Recently I had to make 2 claims due to a hail storm. One vehicle was totaled and the other had over $5000 in damage. [Redacted] and [Redacted] professionalism was hands down the best! I filed my claim and the SAME DAY my 2 claims were dealt with. They made these claims painless and they were executed within and above my expectations timely manner. Most other insurance companies take months sometimes up to 7 months to have a conclusion on a hail damage claim. The General Insurance took 2 days. It has been over a month since my accident. I had a woman back into my parked car with her car. We called the police, but since it was in a Dollar General parking lot it was considered private property. I got all the driver's info and took pictures. I filed my claim that night and they sent an insurance adjuster out who took pictures and even they said they saw the damage. Now it's been over a month and just yesterday they had some twerp call me to say that there wasn't enough evidence. What he meant was unless you want to go thru the trouble suing us we aren't paying for anything. I've never dealt with such freaking crooks/scam artists. I hope they all rot in hell.

You will be shaken to the core to see what the cheap guys do when you have a claim. With American Family we called Russ our agent and his staff helps us through the whole process. When we talked to the claim adjuster he was very informative and worked with us. Our car was totaled. It was an older car but it was my daughter's grandmother's car and had less the 10000 miles on the 7 year old car. The adjuster came back with an amount I felt was low. He showed me how he came up with the value. I told him the car was truly worth more then the average excellent condition 1993. He talked to our mechanic and the the body shop guys to get their input to the condition of the car. He increased the offer by 33%. He had to get approval from the company to do this. I love State Farm, they handle all my ins. My car, car loan, my Apt., and my health ins. My old car loan charged me a lot for gap insurance, my SF car loan gives me gap insurance for free, I saved money when I refinance my car with SF. My old insurance was more money, and my coverages were less. My agent explained what I had, and I picked better coverages and pay less. I also like their website. Nice being able to talk to real people 24/7, even in late at night, m and I am traveling, and in other time zones. Great service.
USAA use to be a reputable company however in pass years their level in integrity customer service has declined tremendously. Lack of due diligence poor laziness. I am so ashamed for them. I have been a member for over 12 years no more. I am in the process of moving all my accounts and severing all ties. Yes it is that bad. It is time consuming but 200% necessary unfortunately. After 2 working days I called back and spoke with so many different people and they all said they'd get a manager to call me back AND NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. Finally had 1 manager KELVIN ** & he hung up on me!!!

TRUCK OWNERS BEWARE! I had Ameriprise for almost 20 years until today. They DOUBLED my rates to $750/6 months when I moved, then required I complete a new application as though I was a new customer. Then, because I made a mistake on the form (I'm old, I make mistakes sometimes), they insisted I provide them titles to the vehicles, one I don't have because it's financed, the other I sent them years ago. So they said to send the registrations, which I did. Next day I get an email saying I have to send the titles again. I called and told them I felt I was being harassed. They said fine, the registrations would work. But, that we needed to discuss the issue of me using my truck to pull a horse trailer. BTW regarding the wreck- do NOT talk to the other insurance company- the @ fault driver’s insurance company. You’re not required if you have a lawyer. Get a lawyer!! Call them from the hospital if you have to they’ll come to you @ the hospital if you call them there. They’ll even come out to your house. Please don’t let the insurance company screw you. You just want what’s fair & your property covered fairly.
My agent really took the time to explain or I should say educate me on my policy how to read what each part meant and scenerios of how I was covered if something happened. I ended up paying a little more in premium but the protection I have for myself and my family makes me feel like I'm a celeb. My agent values protecting my family, I also like the fact he calls my house just to see how we are doing. If you live in the Kansas City area, Farmers agent Troy Bower would be a real blessing to your home.

Worst customer service ever this afternoon from The General customer service team. The General made it obvious that our business was not important to their company. I'm appalled at the upcharge they were going to put on our account so that my wife could talk to a representative about the account! However- The General didn't have a problem taking the money out of her account when the bill was due! Ridiculous! Glad we canceled with these idiots, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

It has options for accident forgiveness, GAP insurance, and special coverage for drivers employed by rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft. And while The General might give you a lower base quote, Travelers’ long list of discounts could erase that gap quickly.
Saved me $370.00 on a three car policy and have nad no problems with the two claims I had within the last three years. Easy to work with on the phone or on line, you can choose your own repair shop and they will back you if the repairs are not correct. Had State Farm before and they did not have a firm handle on my account. I was recieving notification of changes constantly, $11.00 here and $14.00 there. When I would call to inquire, If I could get through they were never sure or justify why the small changes. They took all my pocket change, will not go back, I found a new home after years at SF.
I have had a pretty positive experience with this company until I went to renew my 3 car tags just to find out that the registration lady have been cancelled due to non verification of insurance. I call numerous times only to get an incompetent person to send me the Letter of Experience instead of The State of Alabama Tag office. In total I called 12 times and I received 12 letters that weren’t even supposed to be sent to me. Since I couldn’t get my insurance company to verify, even though I had all the proof, I received a fine of $200 per car plus the cost of my tags.

6 weeks ago my vehicle was hit by a person being insured by The General Insurance company. To this day 6 weeks later I'm still waiting to hear from someone from the claims department to get back with me on my insurance check. The entire process has been extremely slow and drawn out. Very very disappointed in the amount of time that it takes to process a total loss claim. Several times I was told, "We will get back with you," in a certain amount of time and never hear from them. If I would have had to rent a car due to the loss of my vehicle I would have went broke by now! Definitely would not recommend them to anyone. Complete scam – not only is the insurance complete junk (impossible to contact, slow response, claims denied) but they also sell your email address and phone number to a bunch of other scam artists. I bought a policy for my wife using my cell phone as the contact number. I get 6 to 10 calls a week on my cell asking for my wife. I have never used my wife’s name with that phone number – obviously, the calls originate from the [redacted] General.
